As we celebrate the start of a new year, let’s review some of 2017’s highlights, both for the industry at large and for Supersphere. 2017 was a banner year for VR in the entertainment world, with more VR experiences than ever recognized at the Creative Arts Emmys. “The People’s House: Inside the White House with Barack and Michelle Obama,” from Felix & Paul Studios and Oculus, took home the prize in Outstanding Original Interactive Program. Also, Alejandro González Iñárritu’s VR installation “Carne y Arena” was awarded a special Oscar by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences — the first such award for a VR experience, and the Academy’s first special Oscar since 1996. Here at Supersphere, we ended the year on an incredible high note with the announcement of our partnership with Image Ten to create an immersive experience around the “Night of the Living Dead” IP.
